New allegations have emerged against Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, as three friends of a former girlfriend spoke to Daily Mail about an incident that allegedly occurred in May 2012 during the Cannes Film Festival.
Emhoff, 59, is accused of striking the woman, who is being referred to by the pseudonym “Jane,” in the face during a late-night altercation while they were waiting in a valet line. According to one of Jane’s friends, she immediately contacted them, crying in a taxi and recounting the alleged assault.
Jane had reportedly been dating Emhoff for three months at the time of the incident. A second friend corroborated that Jane described the violence to her shortly after it happened. A third friend noted that Jane first mentioned her relationship with Emhoff in 2014 and detailed the alleged abuse in 2018, during a time when Harris was in the spotlight for questioning Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over sexual assault allegations.
All three friends, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation from Emhoff, provided Daily Mail with photographs of Jane and Emhoff from 2012, as well as other documentation supporting their claims.
The alleged assault reportedly stemmed from a situation in which Jane was accused of flirting with another man. This revelation comes in light of previous reports regarding Emhoff’s personal life, including his admitted affair with a nanny who had worked for his family, which led to an alleged pregnancy.
Jane’s friends allege that during their relationship, Emhoff mentioned having settled with the nanny for approximately $80,000 and having her sign a non-disclosure agreement. They claim he also relayed that the nanny accused him of causing her miscarriage, though he insisted her claims were false.
Previously, Emhoff had been portrayed by many as a supportive partner and a champion for women. Despite his public persona, these allegations challenge the image he has cultivated, especially in light of recent media appearances where he has spoken against toxic masculinity.
The allegations raise serious questions about Doug Emhoff’s past actions and the narratives surrounding his character, particularly as they relate to the Harris presidential campaign’s messaging.
